Anne Marie Dornoff

Hometown: Grand Rapids, MI

Education: BA in International Studies & BA in Spanish from DePaul University in Chicago.

Personal Fitness Experience

I maintained the average college student lifestyle – lots of pizza, minimal exercise – and eventually it started taking a toll.  Since walking up a flight of stairs was a necessary, daily activity that I was struggling with, I decided to start exercising. I began attending Zumba classes; just one day a week at first, until it became three days a week, and soon enough I found myself at an instructor training.  From there, every few months I was at a new training and began my career as a group fitness instructor teaching cardio kick-boxing, ballet strength training, barre, Zumba, Spinning, and Pilates Mat. I then added an additional certification in Personal Training and added a few clients into the fold. After three fantastic years, we relocated to Michigan and I’m so excited to be reigniting this part of my fitness journey!

Current Certifications:

  • American Council on Exercise (ACE) Personal Training
  • American Council on Exercise (ACE) Group Fitness Instruction
  • American Red Cross First Aid / CPR / AED

Training Ideology

I love working with people to help make exercise accessible.  For me, it was all about that one, silly flight of stairs. I didn’t want one set of stairs to prevent me from enjoying my day.  So whether it’s a staircase, a laundry basket, or a toddler, I strive to help my clients connect with their body, build confidence, and strengthen themselves so their activities of daily living become more comfortable.  I truly believe it is possible for all people to enjoy exercise, you just have to find the format that you love the most and I think what sets me apart is I take the time to help my clients find the format that’s most fun.

Tim Veeser

Tim has been a Vie client since it opened in 2004. By day, he is a corporate lawyer and his legal advice helped in Vie’s startup. Off hours, he is an avid yogi and spinner. Tim’s passion for fitness and a balanced lifestyle started in law school, when he took his first yoga classes at the university gym (way before it was cool). He has been teaching yoga around Ann Arbor since 2004 and at Vie since 2014. He also attended Vie’s first spin class and loves the low-impact, high-intensity cardio that pairs so well with yoga. He recently completed his certification and is very excited to get up on the stage bike and lead spinning.

Tracy Mistry

Tracy’s passion for movement and fitness coaching has evolved throughout her life. She has worked for over 20 years as an Occupational Therapist, helping people rehabilitate their bodies, integrate their nervous systems and maximize function in their daily lives.

Tracy discovered Pilates when she was recovering from a lumbar disc injury following the birth of her second child.  After exhausting a multitude of unsuccessful rehabilitation avenues, she found Pilates to be the key to re-balancing her body and allowing her to resume her life activities and fitness pursuits.  She was so impressed by the tremendous impact it had on her body in terms of strength, flexibility and whole body alignment and posture, that she decided to pursue a Pilates certification and share it with others. Tracy loves that Pilates is accessible to all ages and fitness levels. She brings a holistic understanding of anatomy, body mechanics, and mind-body connections to her Pilates clients, and encourages everyone, from beginners to the most avid athletes, to discover the rich benefits and endless challenges that Pilates offers.

Whitney Johnson

Whitney was introduced to Pilates at a young age as a supplement to her professional dance training; however, it wasn’t until she was diagnosed with a permanent spinal injury at 16 that she began to take Pilates more seriously as an integral restorative component to a healthy lifestyle. While studying at the University of California, Irvine, she was fortunate to have the opportunity to continue her Pilates education and it has been an important part of her life ever since. Pilates finally gave Whitney the opportunity to feel at home in her body after suffering from debilitating back pain for years and she is eager to guide you towards finding that same mind-body connection necessary for living a healthy, balanced life.

Whitney was initially certified in the Pilates Method at Lotus Pilates, LLC and has continually refreshed and expanded her knowledge of the method with well-known instructors such as Jay Grimes and Mejo Wiggin.
